FAQ’s
- What is Net Metering?
With net metering, you can use the electricity that you generate yourself to power your home. MEPCO credits you with the electricity that you produce and puts all energy production in balance. For those who have renewable energy installed, net metering is a way to reduce your monthly electric bill by using the electricity generated now to fill in for what was consumed then. If you generate more power than what it takes to run your appliances, the power will be credited back to your account. This means you may be able to completely offset or even eliminate electricity bills altogether.
The goal of net metering is to balance the amount that a customer consumes from the grid with the amount that they produce from their own energy resources. In other words, it’s when you’re able to offset your utility bill by how much energy you feedback into the grid. The problem with this system is that it can create an unfair system in which some people in a shared community have an excess of their own energy while others in the same community have none or less than enough for their needs. - How to Check MEPCO Bills By SMS?
